Froch: You’ll see a better Cobra on October 29th against Ward

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO’s) is saying the boxing world will be seeing a better version of himself against WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KO’s) on October 29th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

I wish I could believe that. Froch is like a leopard that can’t change his spots. How can a 34-year-old fighter like Froch improve on what he’s been in the past? If anything, Froch will be slower, more lethargic and hittable than he’s been in the past.

Froch said this to livefight.com: “Trust me, you’ll see a better version of ‘The Cobra’ on the 29th October. Ward thinks he knows what is coming, but he’s not gonna see this one. He can switch hit or whatever he feels like but we’ve got a different approach.”

Oh brother, not heard everything. Why it is all these fighters are talking about secret game strategies and all this gibberish. Froch’s secret strategy will likely be for him to fight just like he always does. He’ll plod forward with his hands hanging down by his waist, his chin exposed, begging to be smacked in the puss. Of course, Ward will oblige him and start unloading on the wide open chin until he’s got Froch looking red in the face from his shots. Things are going to go badly for Froch, and that’s being kind. It’s going to be one of those fights where Froch will likely be wishing he were some place else.

Even if Froch were 10% better than he’s been in the past, which is probably physically impossible, he’s still going to get a royal whipping by Ward in this fight.I just hope he takes it with a stiff upper lip. I don’t want to see him break down under the strain.
