To help publicize the fight, Arum will have Pacquiao interviewed by Piers Morgan on CNN, according to news from Dan Rafael. Additionally, the HBO Pacquiao-Marquez 24/7 replay will be shown on CNN.

And to top it off, Pacquiao vs. Marquez III fight will be advertised on TBS during the Major League Baseball (MLB) playoffs. You can expect even more avenues to be explored to draw as much interest for this fight and to make as much money as possible for the Pacquiao-Marquez III pay-per-view bout. The last Pacquiao mismatch was beaten Pacquiao and 39-year-old Shane Mosley last May.

The fight was advertized on CBS, a non-premium channel, and shown on Showtime. With all the advertising that went into the mismatch, it brought in huge PPV numbers of 1.4 million buys, despite the fact that it was a huge mismatch going into the fight due to Mosley looking like a shot fighter and not having won a fight in two years.

Arum was brilliant in squeezing profits for this fight, which turned out to be just as much of a mismatch as I expected it to be. Mosley never had a chance and looked like a 40-year-old who couldn’t pull the trigger, which is exactly how he looked in his two previous fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr and Sergio Mora. Marguez isn’t shot like Mosley, but he’s clearly on the downside of his career and is moving up in weight two entire divisions to take this fight. Marquez was dropped in his last fight against Michael Katsidis.
