Wladimir very interested in fighting the Chisora-Fury winner

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko just finished knocking off one Brit was ease with his recent embarrassingly easy win over World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye on July 2nd. Wladimir is now targeting the winner of next weeks’ July 23 fight between Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury for Wladimir’s next fight before the end of the year.

Neither of those guys are anywhere close to being big stars in the heavyweight division and nor are they anywhere close to being as talented as the big 6’6″ Ukrainian. But what could make them more attractive for Wladimir is the big Sky pay per view money that either of them would be bringing in if they agreed to fight Wladimir.

If Wladimir can get a 50-50 deal with the British PPV money thrown in the pot, he would do incredibly well even beating up on little known fighters like Chisora and Fury. It makes perfect sense. Wladimir can’t get huge money like that fighting anyone else and there’s almost zero risk involved with fighting Chisora and Fury, because neither are big punchers and rather slow of hand. It also is a good way for Wladimir to stay in the British public’s mind for a potential rematch with Haye, if Haye decides to do the right thing and fight a couple of tune-ups to help heighten interest in a Haye-Wladimir rematch.

Speaking with the mirror.co.uk, Wladimir said “Chisora and Fury are two such fighters [that he would be interested in fighting] and they are going to fight soon. They may not be big names yet in world terms, but I had no heard of David Haye two years ago. I hope to fight again one more time this year. I don’t know who it will be and hopefully we will make an announcement in the next couple of weeks.”

Wladimir can make a nice a little nest egg by taking on beating one British fighter after another if he wants to. If he can get a 50-50 deal every time for the Sky pay per view money, Wladimir can end up hugely wealthy by beating Chisora or Fury, then someone like David Price and then Haye once again. Those three fights will pretty much the best three bouts Wladimir can take in the UK to make as much money as possible. Once he’s done that, he can move on to better heavyweights like Robert Helenius, who I think is a lot better than Haye and Price.
