Vitali still hoping to get a fight against Haye after Adamek bout

By Dan Ambrose: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) had to sit idly by recently and watch his younger brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko hog all the glory in an easy one-sided 12 round unanimous decision win over WBA heavyweight champion David Haye on July 2nd in Hamburg, Germany.

This was a bout that Vitali badly wanted but couldn’t take because he lost the coin flip to face Haye. Vitali still wants to fight Haye and is hoping that the British fighter will be man enough to take him on after Vitali does away with Polish challenger Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) in their big fight on September 10th at the Stadion Miejski, in Wroclaw, Poland.

This is a good fight but mainly only interesting in Europe, because Adamek never did enough to prove himself as a worthy heavyweight contender by beating anyone really good. But once Vitali destroys Adamek, he once Haye and will be looking to get this fight. It’s going to take some convincing on Vitali’s part for him to coax Haye into accepting the fight, because Haye wants a rematch with Wladimir and isn’t eager to take on Vitali, even though it’s the next biggest fight that Haye could get where he would make huge money.

Haye can’t make big cash fighting anyone else but the Klitschkos right now and Wladimir has no interest in facing Haye next without Haye redeeming himself by fighting someone else. Vitali wants the fight and might even give Haye a decent deal just so that Vitali can get the opportunity to knock Haye out. Will Haye take the fight? He might after he finally comes to terms with the fact that Wladimir won’t be giving him an immediate rematch. If it’s all Haye can get, he’ll likely accept the Vitali bout. because of the huge money he can make.
