Image: Khan throws punch of lifetime to keep alive his hopes of facing MayweatherBy Brad Jones: Last night Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO’s) added the IBF light welterweight strap to his WBA strap with a punishing body shot that paralyzed International Boxing Federation light welterweight champion Zab Judah (41-7, 28 KO’s). Khan to his credit stuck to a picture perfect game plan. Not once did he get caught with the Judah left. Zab, who is a great fighter, is no Mayweather. He failed to make the adjustment needed and could not get out of the line of fire from Khan from the 4th onwards.

Judah was looking for a way out and Khan gave him one. If he had wanted to get up he would have. Floyd Mayweather is the king at making adjustments and figuring guys out he would slow Khan down and set the pace like he always does. In the meantime, Khan is becoming a huge star and household name in the United States. He is building a fan base and developing not just as a fighter but in to a pay per view attraction.

There is still unfinished business at 140. Khan could really clear out the division by taking on WBO ,WBC champion Timothy Bradley, who was meant to fight last night instead of Judah. Look for Tim to step up and challenge Khan in December of this year. Bradley has revived a lot of criticism for being scared, but I feel he is simply waiting for the pot to boil and sort his promotional agreements out. Forget about Erik Morales or Kell Brook; Khan-Bradley winner holds all 4 belts and steps up to challenge Floyd Mayweather Jr at 147 for the mythical pound for pound title.
