Khan: I’m looking forward to taking a break after I stop Judah

By Scott Gilfoid: I always enjoy it when I see a cocky fighter with a glass jaw talking as if he’s the best fighter in boxing despite having struggled against good opposition in the past. A good example of that is WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KO’s), who is already looking past his next opponent IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah (41-6, 28 KO’s) and talking about a Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout in 2012.

If I thought that Khan had the goods to accomplish 1/10th of what he’s bragging about, I wouldn’t mind him charting a course for a fight against Mayweather, but I just don’t see the talent there. Khan is a weak-chinned slapper. From the knockout loss to Breidis Prescott to the life and death battle with the mediocre Marcos Maidana, I don’t see the talent there for Khan. He throws fast punches, missing 90% in most cases, and spends the rest of the time running. He’s awful to watch.

Judah isn’t the greatest fighter in the world, but he least knows how to fight and has been in with the best in the entire world. Judah hasn’t cherry picked his way for years and hasn’t been steered away from big punchers. Judah has earned his stripes by taking on the best and doing a good job for his limited size. Had Judah stuck it out at light welterweight instead of moving up in weight in 2004, I think Judah would have been a champion for the past seven years at light welterweight. His problem was that he moved up in weight and didn’t have the size to compete against the bigger welterweights. But now that he’s back at light welterweight, he’s doing a lot better and ready to school some of the pretenders at this weight like Khan.

Khan said this on twitter page “I’m looking forward to the well deserved break when I take out Judah.”

Well deserved? Khan is always taking breaks. He acts like he’s working a seven day a week job. He’s got it good, at least he’s got it good right now. I don’t think it’s going to stay that way after Judah exposes him in front of the entire world and stretches him. It’s going to be brutal.
