Fury wants David Haye next after Chisora bout

By Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 has a crucial bout on Saturday against British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London, England. Fury wants to fight David Haye next if Fury can get by Chisora on Saturday.

IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is very interested already in taking on the winner of Saturday’s fight between Fury and Chisora. But it looks like Fury wants a tune-up bout before the Wladimir fight against Haye.

“I want to knock out David Haye to prove to Wladimir that I’m the real deal,” Haye said to menmedia.co.uk. “You have to respect what Wladimir Klitschko did. But fighting me, he would be fighting a true heavyweight and not a blown up cruiserweight. Wladimir has proved that he is the real deal but now it’s my time to show the world that I’m the next big thing.”

The chances are pretty much zero that Haye would take on Fury next even if Fury was to go out and knock Chisora out in the 1st round. Any kind of win for Fury wouldn’t likely budge Haye into wanting to accept a fight with him, because if Fury looks too good, Haye might be intimidated. And if Fury looks horrible like he’s been looking in most of his fights, there wouldn’t be much of a point in Haye taking on a big mediocre heavyweight like Fury.

However, you have to give Fury a lot of credit for having the courage to want to fight Haye. It’s one thing for Wladimir to beat a fighter like Haye, but it’s completely different with a slow, weak heavyweight like Fury trying to do the same thing.
