By Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO’s) faces British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s next Saturday night at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London. Fury, 23, recently created a great deal of controversy when he said he mentioned killing Chisora in the ring during a telephone conference call last week. Fury looks to be in the damage control phase, because he’s talking religion now and not wanting Chisora to end up hurt in the fight.

This is what Fury said to the dailystar.co.ik: “I pray for Dereck Chisora and everyone. I pray that I win and he is okay. This is the fight game, it’s not ballet dancing, so ther’s going to be firece talk before the fight but I don’t wish Chisora dead of anything like that. This is a sport. I will hold no grudges after the fight…I also pray that he is okay after the fight.”

Looks like Fury is playing nice with Chisora. It may be a bit late for that because he and his promoter cancelled a press conference because they were upset with the choice of words that Fury used. It’s unclear why Fury got so graphic when talking about what he he might have to do in the ring, but perhaps Fury was just trying to hype the fight and went a little overboard in the heat of the moment.

Chisora is the favorite to win on Saturday, so Fury is going to have to come up with something special if he wants to win the fight and move on to bigger and better things. Already, IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has said that he’s considering a fight against the winner of Fury vs. Chisora.
