Fury: After I knock out Chisora, I want Wladimir Klitschko

By Sean McDaniel: Heavyweight Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO’s) is predicting a knockout win for himself on Saturday night against British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London. Fury wants to fight IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko next if Fury can get by Chisora in this fight.

Fury said “I’m going to win [against Chisora], probably by knockout. As soon as I catch him, he’ll be knocked out. I’m going to, hopefully, get to fight Wladimir Klitschko. Keep pushing for that.”

Wladimir has already said he’s interested in fighting the winner of the Chisora-Fury fight, but he seems to be leaning in the direction of wanting to fight Chisora more so than taking on the 6’9″ Fury. It’s not that Wladimir is afraid if Fury, but rather they share the same trainer Emanuel Steward and Wladimir has already sparred with Fury in the past and knows how limited he is.

Chisora is favored to win on Saturday night. He punches hard, has better offensive skills and seems to be the more skilled fighter. Fury is more of a project at this point for Steward and has a lot of rough edges that needs to be smoothed over before he is ready to compete against world class fighters. A fight between Fury and Wladimir would be a huge mismatch because Fury doesn’t have a good jab and lacks power. Fury is basically an inside slapper with poor defensive skills and a serious stamina problem. To be sure, Fury would present more problems for Wladimir than say David Haye, but that’s not saying a whole lot because Haye was pathetic against Wladimir.
