Froch to give Ward a real challenge

By Joe Unsworth: I have seen quite a few articles on various websites and magazines, stating that Carl Froch has no chance against Andre Ward in their upcoming Super Six final at Boardwalk Hall on the 29th October. I cannot believe that some people are still giving Froch a hard time, claiming that he is not a world class fighter and that he will be easily dismantled against the unbeaten Ward.

People need reminding exactly what Froch has achieved in his career. Just look at his last 6 fights and you will immediately see just what a brave and excellent fighter he has proven himself to be. His last 6 fights were Glen Johnson, Arthur Abraham, Mikkel Kessler, Andre Dirrell, Jermain Taylor and Jean Pascal, who are all proven at world level.

He came through five of these bouts with wins, losing only one of these six tough fights against Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler which is no embarrassment as Kessler is another top level fighter. He shown an unbelievable heart, with his win against Jermaine Taylor which I am sure you all remember, and has shown a boxing master class against Arthur Abraham. He has also demonstrated an immensely strong chin, as he displayed recently against the veteran Glen Johnson who gave Froch some of his hardest shots yet none of them clearly stunned the Nottingham Born fighter. Emanuel Steward, the legendary trainer has also in the last couple of
days stated that Froch can win the fight as he is a mentally stronger fighter than Ward and that Ward has not developed into a star just yet.

“Ward doesn’t beat people; he knows how to win decisions. They are trying to make him a star but he isn’t there yet. Froch is mentally stronger, and should go out there and hurt Ward….He [Froch] doesn’t know how limited he is. But he can get right up there in the pound for pound rankings.”

People simply need to take Carl Froch as a serious world level fighter, and I believe he will demonstrate this in the Super Six final against Andrew Ward with another win over yet another world class fighter. The Cobra will show any doubters just what he can do.
