Image: Wladimir: I'm going to give Haye some reality therapy on July 2ndBy William Mackay: Photo: Stefan Hoyer – IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) says he’s going to make WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) his 50th knockout victim this Saturday night, and in doing so Wladimir will be attempting to teach Haye to be less cocky. Wladimir sees a knockout win as being good therapy for Haye out of the ring by making Haye more humble and realistic about how actual talent. Wladimir has a point.

Haye’s confidence seems to be way out of bounds from his actual accomplishments in the ring. As a heavyweight, Haye has fought strictly aging heavyweights nearing 40. And as a cruiserweight, Haye’s best opponents were Jean Marc Mormeck and Enzo Maccarinelli, two fighters that have done little in the past three years.

At today’s press conference in Hamburg, Germany, Wladimir said this about his fight against Haye on Saturday: “Now we’re in the same room. So David you will understand me directly. I see you’re in great shape, you’re very confident, your very fit and ready for July 2nd. I’m so happy as well because I’m going to get a challenge in the ring and that’s exactly what I’m looking for when I box. Boxing is the best thing I can do in my life. So where is the t-shirt, David? Oh, here is the t-shirt. That’s something new; Am I right? David Haye knockout available. You’re going to tweet now. So you cutting the head of, yeah? Alright, I see your fighting a dead man, is that right? Anyway, I believe david Haye is not bad. By the way, with the t-shirt your actually going to eat it with the older one after the fight. I want to say David Haye is not as bad as people think. Yes, he was late 1/2 hour today. We’ve all been waiting for you today, princess. We’ve all been waiting for you. You’re acting like a champ here, right? But anyway, I’m giving you respect as a fighter, though. I believe David Haye is not such a bad guy. He is cocky; he carries himself with confidence, very cool with flip flops and the t-shirt. The way he acts, the way he talks, the way he does certain things, And I believe since you’ve become champion, after you beat Mormeck in France. There is a certain attitude that’s not so good for you’re life, not only in the ring but outside of the ring. That’s true. I believe that it’s going to be a good lesson for you on July 2nd in the ring. I know you’re in shape, I know you’re prepared and I do respect you as a fighter, but not as a person. And I want to tell you my name is Wladimir Klitschko. Dr. Klitschko. I’ll give you treatment, therapy for you on July 2nd, because I’m going to give you treatment. It’s reality rehab. It’s going to be on July 2nd. I will knock your butt out back into reality, which is good for your future life to become a better person, a better man with better behaviors, And you’ll be on time. Be on time to get up after the count of nine in the ring. Be on time. David Haye I wish you good luck in the ring. One more thing. Why you don’t want to shake my hand? Everyone shook the hand of the heavyweight champion. All the presidents of Ukraine, the United States, Brazil, Germany, shook this hand. Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Max Schmeling, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, all shook this hand. Dali Lama. Let me think who else. There’s a lot of people. Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and I can actually go on forever. So, they actually shook this hand, but you don’t want to shake this magic hand. Why not? I forgot to tell you one more thing. My first fight was in Hamburg. My professional debut. I was my first fight, but also my first knockout. I won this fight by knockout and you disgraced the other 49 guys that’s been knocked out. You said they were b-u-m-s, they weren’t good. And you going to be number #50. I repeat it one more time. You’re going to be number #50. Just out of respect to the other guys. You can breath as heavy as you want. I’ve been waiting for you. Now you’re going to wait for me if you’ll let me finish my speech. By the way, where’s your sunglasses? There’s a wisdom, the eyes can tell you as much as the mouth. So you’re covering your eyes, you don’t want to shake my hand, you’re escaping from the same room from me in London. Why didn’t you want to be in the same room as me? You didn’t want to shake thing hand.”

Steward had this to say: “You see all the David Haye fans out there with sunglasses on. I’m very excited about this fight. I’ve been in super fights for 30 fighters, All those fights and this is the 2nd biggest. I was with Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson. And the thing about this fight that makes it so great is that we have to fighters, good looking guys, they’re bodies look good, which is rare today for two fighters in the heavyweight division. Both are fit, and also because they’re fighting in their prime. Even though Lennox, which was my greatest heavyweight, beat Mike Tyson and Evander [Holyfield], but they had slightly slipped a little but, not that it was Lennox’s fault. Wladimir and David are going to fight when they’re both in their prime. And what I like about David is that he comes with the winning mindset; Not like a lot of opponents that we’ve fought recently. We got to go back to the first fight with Sam Peter. He was a tough fight; he came to win, and maybe one or two since then. But no one came in with the attitude of David. And that’s what makes great fights, the mindset of a fighter. I think the fantastic support of the British people, and the great stadium out there and the huge amount of interest. I just came back from America where I had to go related to HBO for one day. The interest is phenomenal out there. We’re not aware of it being here in training camp ourselves. Everyone is talking about the fight. So it’s going to be a big fight. I think the magnitude is going to make the fighters perform much better. I think this is the only fight I’ve ever seen Wladimir to be emotionally charged up for since the fight he fought against Chris Byrd, because not so much Byrd but his family said so many things that upset him. But this fight here he’s been very charged up, but still he’s been very cool. His training has been great. We’ve analyzed and look at David with much respect because even though David has been knocked down the same as Wladimir, he’s come back and fought with a lot of respect for his speed and his courage. And a lot of people are going back to the Thompson fight and the Brewster fight. But that was a long time ago. These are two different fighters now. The same name and the same faces but they’re different. I myself as a fan, a trainer and a broadcaster, I’m excited about the fight, and it’s going to be great to see a lot of our British faces that I haven’t seen since the Lennox days. It’s going to be great to and exciting fight. As a fan, I can’t wait until the 2nd of July gets here.”
