Having the WBA title on the line will make the Maidana-Guerrero bout a little more interesting. However, it would have been nice had Maidana and Guerrero been able to beat Khan for the title instead of the WBA making Khan a Super champion, which kind of makes it confusing with two champions occupying the same title. Maidana already fought Khan and lost the fight by a close 12 round decision. Maidana has been after Khan to try and get a rematch but he’s had little luck of getting him back in the ring. Now Maidana has a tough fight against Guerrero with the winner of this bout having a possible chance at fighting the Khan-Judah winner.

Guerrero has been looking really good as of late beating Malcolm Klassen, Joel Casamayor, Vicente Escobedo and Michael Katsidis. Maidana could wind up as a statistic for Guerrero unless Maidana can put enough pressure on Guerrero to beat him by a decision. It’s almost impossible to see Guerrero getting knocked out but who knows? Maidana might be big and powerful enough to take Guerrero out. This is a fight that could be to Maidana’s advantage because Guerrero won’t run away like Khan did in his fight with Maidana. If Guerrero elects to trade with Maidana the way that Erik Morales recently did he could end up getting beaten up and worn out.
