Image: Haye: Wladimir is too soft to be great; I don’t want to be like himBy Jason Kim: Photo: Stefan Hoyer – WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KOs) was slightly disgusted with IBF/WBO Wladimir Klitschko after the Ukrainian got deeply upset after Haye suggested recently at their Hamburg press conference that Wladimir may get badly hurt and have to leave the Imtech Arena with the assistance of an ambulance after the fight.

Instead of letting it roll off his back like water and recognize it as more of the same trash talking that Haye has been doing for years, Wladimir complained afterwards about it and seemed almost as emotional about it as he was with Haye after he walked around with a gross t-shirt showing Haye holding the cut off heads of Wladimir and his brother. Wladimir may have been better keeping quiet on the subject, as Haye now sees this as a sign of weakness on Wladimir’s part and believes that he lacks toughness to be a fighter.

Speaking to thesun.co.uk, Haye said “Just the thought of someone getting injured seems to throw him. You can’t say that – this is a sport. You have to be at one with the violence if you want to be a successful boxer…I can’t have the mindset of Wladimir Klitschko.”

Haye went on the say that Wladimir doesn’t have the DNA to be a good fighter. What Haye really means is that Wladimir doesn’t have the DNA to be a brawler like him, and that’s definitely true. Wladimir is a technician and he knows his limitations just as Haye knows his. Haye will never be as good a boxer as Wladimir because he lacks a good jab and isn’t as skilled as him.
