Froch thinks Haye will get to Wladimir early to stop him or else win a decision

Image: Froch thinks Haye will get to Wladimir early to stop him or else win a decisionBy Scott Gilfoid: To no great surprise, WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is picking fellow Brit and close personal friend WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 Ko’s) to beat IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) in less than two weeks on July 2nd. Froch thinks Haye will get to Wladimir early and stop him. But Froch also thinks Haye can win on points, a view that next to no one sees happening because of Haye’s limited boxing skills, short reach and poor experience at the heavyweight level.

I wish Froch could tell us how he expects Haye to win with him running around the ring all night long stinking up the joint. This fight isn’t taking place in the UK, so there won’t be any hometown decisions. If Haye wins, he’s going to have to earn the win and he can’t do that by running around the ring like a chicken with it’s head cut off.

I think Froch needs to leave the predictions on the Haye-Klitschko fight with the boxing experts like myself. Froch needs to focus on trying not to get beaten so badly in his next Super Six fight against Andre Ward, because he’s got his hands full with the talented Ward. Leave the predictions to me, Froch. This is going to be a massive slaughter along the lines of Ryan Rhodes loss to Saul Alvarez. I see Haye playing the part of Rhodes with Wladimir doing a fair imitation of Alvarez.

In an interview at Sky Sports News, Froch said “David has to push to him, he has got to hit him early and I think he will do that. If David catches him early then he will flatten him…David is an excellent boxer, he can fight and he can box. He can also win on points.”

Win on points? No way. That right there makes me dismiss everything Froch just said because everyone knows that Haye is a poor boxer. Heck, Haye barely beat the slow and lethargic WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev in 2009. Haye averaged 10 punches thrown per round in that fight. Sorry, but throwing 10 punches per round will cause Haye to get badly beaten. If he throws that few punches against Wladimir then Haye will get knocked out cold. He won’t be able to make it anywhere close to the 12th if he can’t throw enough punches to keep Wladimir from teeing off on him.
