Booth not worried about the judges: The Klitschko-Haye bout won’t go to the cards

Image: Booth not worried about the judges: The Klitschko-Haye bout won’t go to the cardsBy Sean McDaniel: Trainer/manager Adam Booth is totally unconcerned with his fighter World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) finding himself on the losing end of a controversial decision this Saturday night in Germany, which is strange indeed given the news with Britain’s Matthew Macklin losing a questionable 12 round decision to WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm last weekend in Germany.

Booth is confident because he sees Haye knocking Wladimir out well before the 12th round. Booth has a secret strategy that he has come up with after spotting a flaw in Wladimir’s game after pouring through hours and hours of Wladimir’s fights on video.

Whether Haye can put the plan in action will be the real question, because he may only get a one or two chances before Wladimir recognizes what Haye is trying to do and comes up with something to shut down this avenue of attack.

Wladimir is very good closing down holes in his game after he’s been tagged hard by an opponent. And with his long reach, great jab and excellent power, he’s going to be hard for the shorter Haye to hit with any consistency unless Haye decides to rush him and go for broke in a desperate all or nothing attack. That’s not Haye’s style because he hates getting hit and seems to fight with a lot of fear when facing big fighters that can punch a little.

Booth said this to the Press Association: “It doesn’t worry me at all; this fight won’t go to the cards. It will be a completely different David Haye, but there are certain elements that don’t change – speed and heavy-handedness.”

It sounds like Booth is whistling past the graveyard. Booth is smart enough to know that Haye doesn’t possess the skills to box his way to a decision against Wladimir anyway. It really comes down to whether Haye can get to Wladimir to try and knock him out, because if not, Haye is in for a long night of punishment.

Booth probably won’t let Haye take that beating if it becomes too one-sided and will likely throw in the towel if Wladimir starts to really dominate. In other words, boxing fans won’t get the chance to see Wladimir make a pizza face out of Haye’s face with his jabs, because Booth will likely halt the fight if Haye isn’t competitive.
