Alexander-Matthysse: I bet on the Alexander fight, and I am furious

I saw that the fight would be held in Devon Alexander’s hometown, and I knew a robbery was possible. But when I saw on HBO that one of the judges for Alexander’s fight with Lucas Matthysse was the very same person that scored in Alexander’s favor for his fight against Andriy Kotelnik, my jaw dropped to the floor.

There’s so many qualified judges in the United States, why go and get the very same guy that gave Alexander a 116-112 score in the Kotelnik fight? That just blew my mind, I wanted my money back right away. Too late! As I watched the fight I could see that Alexander was actually fighting a decent fight. The grunting and pitty-pat punches from long range doesn’t really fool anyone, but I saw that he was in good condition and had a lot of spirit and energy. He also gets a lot of credit for taking on a fighter like Matthysse in the first place. But Matthysse was landing the real punches and showing better technique and consistency. But I knew I had lost my money when the 10th round bell rang, though. I knew one knockdown wouldn’t be enough to win.

Giving Alexander a loss in this situation would not have hurt his career in the slightest. Matthysse is a great fighter who will get the title that he deserves in the next few years. Now Alexander may have to fight a rematch with Matthysse just to get some credibility. I may be able to get some of my money back, if there isn’t another robbery. Matthysses was the wrong kind
