Image: What does that say about Mosley that Arum is already looking to set up Pacquiao's next fight?By Chris Williams: With a fight against Shane Mosley still yet to take place for his fighter Manny Pacquiao, promoter Bob Arum is already looking to set up a fight for Pacquiao against soon to be 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez next. Arum has reportedly made an offer to Marquez to face Pacquiao next. What does that say about Arum’s estimation of Mosley’s chances of beating Pacquiao? It makes me think that they see a win over Mosley as a given and already looking to set up something else to keep the gravy train running.

I don’t disagree that Pacquiao will beat Mosley. Heck, I see this as a terrible mismatch because of how truly awful Mosley has looked in his last two fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sergio Mora. It doesn’t take a genius to see how badly Mosley fought in both of those fights to come up with the conclusion that he stands no chance whatsoever against Pacquiao. I’m no fan of Pacquiao but I do think he’s more than good enough to beat what’s left of Mosley. But that’s why I don’t understand the fight.

Why take on a guy just because he has a recognizable name? It’s like pulling Felix Trinidad out of retirement because he’s got a recognizable name to fans. Like Mosley, Trinidad would likely look old, fight poorly and get easily beaten. Why not have Pacquiao fight someone that is relevant like Sergio Martinez or one of the top welterweights like Victor Ortiz or Mike Jones? Why is Pacquiao being matched against an old guy after fighting a badly depleted non-junior middleweight Antonio Margarito for the catchweight 154 pound WBC title?
