Few boxing fans are giving the 39-year-old Mosley much of any chance at beating the Filipino star. However, Mosley doesn’t care and feels he’s going to prove a lot of people wrong by winning on Saturday.

In their final press conference, Mosley said “I can muster all the energy that I had against [Antonio] Margarito.” Mosley beat Margarito by a 9th round stoppage in January 2009. Mosley took the fight to Margarito and battered him with combinations and stifled his offense by constantly tying him up in a clinch. In contrast, Pacquiao beat Margarito by a 12 round draw last November and took a lot of shots from the tough Mexican.

Mosley noticed how hard Pacquiao had to struggle against a fighter that he easily beat and he feels that this gives him the edge. But if Mosley does fight with the same kind of energy that he had in the Margarito fight, Pacquiao will have problems because Mosley was powerful and quick in that fight. And his clinching really was a key factor in shutting down the offense of Margarito. Mosley likely won’t be able to clinch nearly as much against Pacquiao, because he’ll be sliding away from Mosley on the inside and won’t let himself be tied up. But Mosley is the bigger fighter and if he can bully Pacquiao when in close and land his powerful combinations, Pacquiao could be in trouble.

Mosley says “We’re going to go out there and not take our foot off the gas pedal.” Pacquiao isn’t used to his opponents sticking around and landing shots. The ones that have made it to the 12th, Joshua Clottey and Margarito, were pretty limited fighters. Neither of them were doing much after the 10th.
