Mosley, 39, sees this fight as a throwback fight for him back to his days where he dominated the lightweight division.

Little to many boxing fans know, Mosley was one of the best lightweights within memory, accumulating a record of 32-0, 30 KO’s while winning and holding down the IBF lightweight title from 1997 to 1999. Had Mosley stayed at lightweight rather than being lured to move up two divisions to fight welterweight Oscar De La Hoya, Mosley would likely have been one of the greatest lightweights in history. Mosley has been more or less fighting out of his weight class for the past 12 years since moving up in weight. Mosley sees his fight with Pacquaio as a move back to his lightweight days, saying “This type of fight reminds me of when I was able to do a lot of damage in the lightweight division. It’s kind of like going back in time.”

This is like a lightweight fight. Pacquiao is basically a pumped up lightweight fighting at welterweight. He’s not big and seems to be getting over by throwing a lot of fast shots and jumping in and out against the slower struggling fighters that he’s been matched against. Pacquiao has been mostly put in with slow guys that stand in front of him and are coming off of serious beatings. Mosley is still fast but hasn’t won a fight in two years, hence he’s been given the shot against Pacquiao. If Mosley can go back to the form he had at lightweight, he can possibly pull off a huge upset by knocking Pacquiao out this Saturday. Mosley certainly has the pedigree to win this fight.
