Image: Khan sees Haye beating WladimirBy William Mackay: Amir Khan believes that fellow Brit World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) will beat IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) when they meet up on July 2nd at the Imtech stadium in Hamburg, Germany. Khan, who holds the World Boxing Association light welterweight title and is trying to make a name for himself in the United States right now, thinks that Haye is too quick and too good for Wladimir to beat.

Khan also thinks that Wladimir has been making a lot of mistakes on his last several fights [against Ruslan Chagaev, Eddie Chambers and Samuel Peter] despite Wladimir easily winning all of them by stoppages. Khan fails to point out what these mistakes are that Wladimir is making but if you were to watch them, you might have to use a microscope because Wladimir dominated each of these guys without any problems.

Speaking with Sky Sports news, Khan said “I don’t think he [Klitschko] has ever fought anyone as good or as quick as David. He is awkward with his style he has. he is going to keep David away with his jab, but I think he will make a lot of mistakes which he has been doing in his last few fights and I think David will take him. David Haye is a very strong fighter. he has been in this position a lot of times and I know exactly how he thinks and when the fight comes he will be ready, he will be motivated.”

Haye has never been in the position where he’s had to face a fighter like Wladimir, so I disagree with Khan on that. Haye has fought Monte Barrett, Nikolay Valuev, John Ruiz and Audley Harrison at heavyweight. Khan says that Haye has been in this position a lot of times. I think Khan means that Haye has fought a lot of 2nd tier heavyweights and he thinks that equates to Haye being qualified to beat Wladimir. It doesn’t make sense to me, but that’s Khan.
