Image: Haye thinks his British fans will be louder than Wladimir's fans on July 2ndBy William Mackay: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) is really counting on his fellow British boxing fans to come in be louder than the more numerous fans of IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) on July 2nd at the Imtech stadium in Hamburg, Germany. Haye, 30, realizes that his loyal British fans will be greatly out-numbers by Wladimir’s German fans, perhaps as much as four to one, but he still believes that they’ll be making more noise.

Haye is counting on the applause to get him energized for the fight and carry him to victory against the bigger and much more experienced Wladimir on July 2nd.

Speaking with Sky Sports News, Haye said “He [Wladimir] has never had to fight in a hostile atmosphere in his whole life. He has always been the home fighter. I would not be surprised that even if we have 25% of British, I know that 25% of British will make a lot more noise.”

It seems to burn Haye up that the fight won’t be taking place in the UK where he would have a huge amount of fans making a lot of noise with their screaming, singing, blowing of horns and other such noises devises. Haye would have liked to have fought Wladimir there. Unfortunately, there was the small matter of Wladimir having two world titles compared to Haye’s one and Wladimir having fought 58 times at heavyweight and Haye having only five bouts at the heavyweight level with many of them being older heavyweights nearing 40. This is a good reason why the bout isn’t taking place in England.
