Haye sees the rematch as not being worth the risk involved for Groves, because of the danger of being cut up by DeGale.

I think Haye doesn’t want Groves to fight DeGale again because realizes how lucky Groves was to win that fight. I smell fear from Haye. If Groves fights DeGale again, he’ll have DeGale all over Groves pounding him from the 1st round until the bitter end. DeGale knows how to beat Groves’s running style of fighting now. He figured him out in the last six rounds, and Haye probably doesn’t want to see Groves get pounded and end up losing the little bit of notoriety that he got for this fight.

Groves was slicked up from DeGale’s heavy shots last Saturday night and his face made him look like he’d been in a serious car wreck. Groves took a lot of punishment and ended up winning a fight that many people felt should have gone the other way. This set of judges scored the fight for Groves, but it’s likely a different set of judges would have given the decision to DeGale. It was a completely subjective thing.

Speaking with the London Evening Standard, Haye said “I wouldn’t want to see it. With the amount of head butts and elbows that went in from James, all he is going to do is open George’s face up again. George would win again, probably on points, maybe a bit easier but he’s still end up with a load of facial damage, and who wants facial damage?”

Funny, but I didn’t see any head butts for elbows from DeGale in that fight. I did see DeGale landing a lot of hard hooks to the face and head. I guess that’s what opened up the cuts. I can’t see Groves winning in a rematch unless it’s another controversial decision where DeGale appears to win most of the rounds but ends up on the receiving end of a questionable decision.
