Groves will shine early against DeGale and then get destroyed; Cleverly will dominate Kuziemski

By Scott Gilfoid: For the most part, tomorrow’s fights between James DeGale vs. George Groves and Nathan Cleverly vs. Aleksy Kuziemski will be mismatches. The DeGale-Groves fight will be decent early on, but once DeGale gets warmed up around the fourth or fifth round, Groves is going to be getting slaughtered. Groves is just too rigid.

It’s like he’s a got a big stick taped to his backside, preventing him from fighting with any kind of flexibility. He is so there to be hit it’s not even funny. But he’ll land some of his power shots early and probably even swell up DeGale’s cheeks before the fight gets out of hand with DeGale pouring in left and right hooks in multiple combinations. It’s going to be sickening seeing DeGale tagging Groves with four and five consecutive hooks to the head. I see that fight being brutal, ugly and short.

The Cleverly- Kuziemski fight will be a straight up mismatch. There’s no getting around that. Kuziemski is slow and he doesn’t make up for it by having good power. He’s just some slow and weak guy that happens to be ranked at number #11 by the WBO. I personally have him ranked in the 2nd tier. I don’t see the guy as 1st tier. It’s too bad they couldn’t find a decent replacement for Jurgen Braehmer because this is a terrible fight.

I’m not high on Cleverly, but he’s going to destroy Kuziemski. Couldn’t they have found somebody else to fight Cleverly? I’d rather see the fight not happen and have some other guy on the card like Kell Brook, but only if he took on someone good for a change instead of these unknown or old guys. But Cleverly vs. Kuziemski is going to be a slaughter and it’s going to give some people the wrong impression. They’ll see Cleverly destroying this guy and think he’s the best thing since slice bread. In turn, they’ll probably start following his fights and then get their hearts broken when he steps up and faces someone like Tavoris Cloud or Bernard Hopkins and ends up getting stomped.
