Image: Fury: Wladimir will knock Haye outBy Eric Thomas: Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Tyson Fury thinks IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) will be too much for WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) when they meet up on July 2nd at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg, Germany. Fury believes that Wladimir’s size, power, speed and experience will give him the edge to beat the smaller 6’2″ 217 pound Haye. Fury sees Haye as a good small heavyweight with a weak chin facing a large excellent heavyweight in Wladimir.

Speaking with thesun.co.uk, Fury said “Haye’s getting KO’d, definitely. I can see Klitschko putting him down three or four times before the ref stops it…He [Haye] a small heavyweight who has no chin.”

Fury goes on to talk about how Haye looked poor in winning a 12 round decision over WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev in 2009 by running around the ring and winning a close fight by throwing very few punches. Fury doesn’t think that’s a good plan on trying to beat Wladimir. You don’t try to out-box Wladimir. “I just don’t see him beating Klitschko, who’s a hell of a lot sharper than Valuev. He’s more powerful, more experienced and he’s just a better man altogether.”

Haye went life and death with Valuev. That’s not a good sign going into the Wladimir fight that he’ll a very good chance of winning. Fury believes that you have to go right at Wladimir and pressure him hard if you want to beat him. However, that’s not easy to do because it means that you’re going to have to take a lot of punishment in order to win unless you can get lucky and take Wladimir out quickly in two rounds like Corrie Sanders did back in 2003. Fury’s recollection of the Sanders’ fight is a bit of, though. Fury says that Sanders was in front of Wladimir during the fight, but actually Sanders used in and out attacks until hurting Wladimir. At that point, he stood in front of him briefly while chopping him down. That’s Haye’s best chance of winning – using the Sanders model for beating Wladimir.
