Fury, still only 22, wants to beat Chisora and take his title from him. Fury has been eager to face Chisora for quite some time but has had to wait because of Chisora was previously scheduled to fight IBf/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on two separate occasions recently and both fights fell through because of injuries to Wladimir. But with Wladimir moving on to fight WBA heavyweight champion David Haye instead, Chisora is now free to fight Fury. It will be Chisora’s first fight since stopping Sam Sexton in the 9th round last year in September.

Chisora looked good in that fight in throwing combinations and taking Sexton out with a furious attack in the 9th. However, that was many months ago and by the time Chisora does meet Fury in the ring in July, it will have been 10 months since Chisora last fought. That might not mean anything if Fury looks as amateurish and sloppy as he’s looked in recent fights. Fury looked sloppy in beating Marcelo Luiz Nascimento in February in a 5th round stoppage.

Fury also looked ragged in wins over Zack Page, Rich Power, and John McDermott in the past year. Fury won all those fights, but still looked pretty sloppy despite being trained by Emanuel Steward two of those fights. Fury has to fight a lot better against Chisora than what he’s been showing if he wants to capture his title in July. Chisora is going to be all over Fury on the inside and that’s going to be tough for Fury, because he’s not as good on the inside as Chisora. Fury doesn’t like to take head shots, and he’s going to be getting hit a lot to the head in this fight. Fury’s chin is going to be tested and if he’s not able to handle the many shots Chisora is going to be hitting him with, we could be a really big heavyweight hitting the canvas with the 6’9″ Fury flat on his back.

Fury said “Chisora’s talked the talk and now he needs to walk the walk. I’m good to go. That’s my game walking the walk, so let’s see if he is man enough to get in the ring with a dangerous, young, live opponent for the first time in his career.”
