The exact date of the fight is still to be determined but it will be taking place in July at the latest. Fury has been talking about this fight for some time and it finally looks like he’ll be getting his wish by fighting Chisora. Fury is taking a dangerous step by agreeing to this bout, because he hasn’t looked at all good for some time.

Fury breezed through his first seven bouts but looked horrible when he stepped it up against John McDermott in September 2009. Fury won that fight by a questionable 10 round decision and looked equally bad in a rematch last year in June. Since that fight, Fury has been matched softly against lesser fighters and has done well. However, Fury still looks as amateurish as he did in the McDermott fight.

The only thing that’s changed is that he’s being put in with weaker opposition. In July, Fury will be thrown in with Chisora, a fighter that is a step above McDermott in talent. This doesn’t bode well for Fury unless he can rise above some of his recent mediocre performances. Chisora is a good fighter and puts a lot of pressure on his opponents with his nonstop attacking style and his excellent inside fighting ability. Fury is going to be forced to fight at close quarters in this bout, and that will favor Chisora.

To a certain degree, Fury can fight a little on the inside but he’s more skilled at medium range. His weak uppercuts won’t have any affect on Chisora and he won’t have room to load up on them with Chisora’s head buried against his chest all night.
