Abraham: Ward doesn’t have power

By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham wasn’t ready to pour praise over the head of American talent WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward after he whipped Abraham last week in one of the most one-sided slaughters of the Super Six tournament. Abraham lost by a one-sided 12 round decision and was only competitive in the first few rounds when Ward was feeling him out to see what he had.

After the fight, Abraham, with his face badly swollen around the eyes and cheeks, said this in an interview at fighthubtv.com: “Ward doesn’t have power.” That was classic Abraham. Doesn’t have power? How can Ward not have power when he put on a clinic and ended up giving Abraham a royal beating of the first order? Abraham looked like he crawled out of train wreck. That how badly Ward beat him. Yeah, Abraham got whipped by a fighter with no power. That’s even worse than getting beaten by someone with power. If I was Abraham, I’d be kissing Ward’s backside and saying he tremendous power just so I wouldn’t look so bad in losing to the guy.

It was a virtuoso performance from Ward reminding of a Picasso painting. It doesn’t get any better than that. It’s just too bad that Abraham wasn’t willing to heap some praise and loving on Ward’s head after that masterpiece he put in.

Abraham is finished now after this loss. He’s officially eliminated from the Super Six tournament, thanks to Ward. Abraham can now resume his career and maybe go after the WBO paper champion.
