However, Harrison has no intentions of wrapping up his career and will continue pushing forward despite his lack of success and his fast approaching 40th birthday.

It’s not that Harrison isn’t a decent heavyweight. If you match him up against B and C level opponents, Harrison will win nine times out of ten. Harrison’s problems come when he’s put in with an A level fighter. That’s when he seems to stress out, lose his nerve and come unglued and perform badly.

Harrison said this to thesun.co.uk: “I am 39 and couldn’t live with myself unless I gave it one more go to finish my career on a high.”

Before the loss to Haye, Harrison had won four consecutive fights, albeit against lower quality opposition. But that may the best that we can hope for with Harrison. It’s pretty much academic at this point that Harrison can cut it against upper tier opposition. We’ve seen him get beaten by 2nd tier guys like Martin Rogan, fringe contenders like Michael Sprott, Dominic Guinn and Danny Williams. And now we’ve seen him get beaten by small heavyweight in Haye. If Harrison is going to continue with his career, he needs to stick with lower quality domestic level opposition and not try and fight any top world class or European level opponents. I don’t even think Harrison could be local guys like David Price, Tyson Fury, Dereck Chisora or Tom Dallas
