Haye says he made Wladimir look bad during their HBO face off
By William Mackay: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) seems happy with himself after meeting with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) in a face off during an HBO organized meeting between the two fighters to promote their July 2nd fight at the Imtech stadium in Hamburg, Germany.
Speaking on his social media twitter site, Haye said “Just did HBO face off with Wlad Klit. I made him look a prize twat! He wanted to truly kill me!! Ha ha ha.”
Haye’s version of his meeting with Wladimir differs from a member of Klitschko’s team, who says that Haye was quiet during the meeting and looked very nervous during the face off with Wladimir, as if he were afraid of the big 6’6″ Ukrainian.
To be sure, Haye’s description of the meeting with Wladimir is almost childlike. It’s like he’s meeting his hero and wants to taunt him in order to get attention. This is all going to look bad if Haye turns around and gets knocked out or performs badly on July 2nd. He’s putting a lot of pressure on himself with all his trash talk and it’s going to make him look more than a little silly if he is unable to knock Wladimir out like he’s saying he will.
