Look at him walk away.” Cotto quickly walked out of the arena moments after weighing in at 154 while Mayora kept motioning for Cotto to come back and face him but Cotto wouldn’t do it. There’s some things that fighters have to do and one of those is to face off with their opponents. Mayorga really got the best of Cotto when he presented a red rose to him. Cotto looked bad by not facing up to Mayorga after that.

At that point, a disgusted looking Mayorga left the arena with promoter Don King. Mayorga made Cotto look bad. In hindsight, Cotto should have come back at faced him.

Cotto has a lot riding on this fight with a possible rematch with Antonio Margarito and a future fight with Manny Pacquiao if Cotto can get by both Mayorga and Margarito. However, it all starts with the Mayorga fight on Saturday. If Cotto can’t beat Mayorga, then it’s all over for Cotto and his dream of fighting Manny for a second time. And you really can’t tell what will happen in the Cotto-Mayorga fight because Mayorga fought Shane Mosley to a standstill in 2008, and appeared to be winning the fight in the 12th when Mosley was able to get a knockout. Cotto will have to do a lot better than Mosley because he doesn’t have as good stamina has him. If Cotto doesn’t dominate early, he might miss his chance at beating Mayorga because Cotto tends to weaken and slow down as the fight goes past the 8th.
