Image: Haye says Solis knew how to beat Vitali, but his obesity stopped himBy William Mackay: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye tipped his hand how he plans on fighting the Klitschkos in his recent comments on his twitter page when he gave his thoughts on why Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12 KO’s) failed in his fight against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) in Cologne, Germany. Solis’ right leg blew out after he got hit with a right hand.

Haye said “Solis knew how to beat Vit, but years of obesity stopped him from being able to execute.” Haye looked exactly one round of action and came away thinking that Solis had figured out how to beat the 6’7″ Klitschko. This is kind of silly to say the least because it takes more than one round to tell whether one fighter has figured out how to beat another. But what it does kind of tell you is how Haye is going to try and fight Vitali or Wladimir when the time comes. Solis used a lot of movement against Vitali and landed hard left hooks and short right hands. Solis found a lot of success with his left hook. That was something he was able to use frequently.

Solis also landed a number of short compact right hands to the head of Vitali. Solis wasn’t crazy enough to throw more than a one or two shots at a time and when he did finally try and land a combination, he got hurt. Haye is going to try and fight the same way using left hooks and right hand pot shots. If Haye throws long looping right hands or left hooks, he’s going to get knocked out quickly. His only chance is to throw short hooks and right hands like Solis was throwing and hope he doesn’t get tenderized in the process by Wladimir or Vitali’s jabs.
