Image: Hatton thinks his fight with Alvarez will be close: Is he deluded?By Scott Gilfoid: Photo credit Leopoldo Gonzalez – It’s sad to see how excited Matthew Hatton (41-4-2, 16 KO’s) is about his fight this Saturday with unbeaten Saul Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 KO’s) at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California. Hatton, 29, is as happy as a puppy with this fight, and he thinks he’s going to win it. I don’t know of anyone that sees Hatton winning the fight and as far as I can tell, Hatton has been brought in as fodder for Alvarez.

Hatton has a recognizable last name because of his famous brother, and he’s weak, slow and completely average. This is obviously the only reasons he’s been picked. Alvarez’s promoters know that Hatton has no chance at winning and will be little more than a punching dummy on Saturday night. It’s too bad that Hatton doesn’t realize this as well, because he seems to think he can really win. He can’t.

This is going to be a blowout with Hatton getting beaten up a little and then decapitated in a vicious knockout loss. But what’s funny is that Hatton is saying that he thinks the fight is going to be close. Is that deluded or what? Close like in Custer’s last stand? That’s about as close as I see this one. Hatton doesn’t have the tools to make it close and like a lot of fighters from the UK, he’s too confident for his own good. He doesn’t realize how limited he is yet, but on Saturday night he’s’ going to find out awfully quick when Alvarez knocks him out with a single shot to the head.
