Froch says Johnson will be surprised by his strength

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) is incredibly fortunate not to have a 1-2 record in his three Super Six tournament fights. His only real win as far as I’m concerned was his victory over a pre-softened Arthur Abraham, who Andre Dirrell did a number on the fight before Froch faced him.

Froch has a win over Abraham, a loss to Mikkel Kessler and what had should have been a loss to Dirrell but was ruled a 12 round split decision in a fight in Froch’s home city of Nottingham. Froch is now going into his May 21st Super Six semifinal bout against Glen Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KO’s) as if he’s been dominating his opposition instead of a more clearer picture of what’s been happening in his fights.

In an interview at livefight.co.uk, Froch said that he believes that Johnson will be surprised by his strength. Froch also doesn’t think Johnson’s advantage in experience will help him. I think Froch is dead wrong about both of those things. Froch’s strength won’t be a big deal for Johnson because he’s been fighting at light heavyweight and is used to fighting stronger guys than Froch. For Johnson, Froch is lighter punching and less skilled guy compared to the fighters he’s been facing like Tavoris Cloud and Chad Dawson. Froch isn’t nearly as good as those guys. Johnson is going to be landing some big shots on Froch on May 21st, and I think Froch is going to have his eyes opened wide when he starts getting pounded.
