Image: Foreman vs. Wolak: Will Yuri's surgically repaired leg allow him to win?By Eric Thomas: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-1, 8 KO’s) will finally be returning to the ring on March 12th to fight contender Pawel Wolak (28-1, 18 KO’s) at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Foreman, 30, hasn’t fought since June last year when he was taken out in the 9th round against Miguel Cotto in a fight in which Foreman’s previously injured right knee gave out on him in the 7th when he was being pursued around the ring by Cotto.

Foreman already had serious problems with his knee but the slip made things much worse, as Foreman was only able to limp around the ring for the remainder of the fight, looking bad as he couldn’t plant and throw like he was previous to the injury occurring. The fight was pretty much even at the time the injury occurred. But with the injury, all Foreman could do was limp around the ring and take shots from Cotto.

Eventually, Foreman was taken out in the 9th. Foreman had his leg successfully operated on. With his leg now fully healed, Foreman is ready to go against the #7 WBA ranked contender Wolak, who has faced mostly B level opposition during his seven year pro career. Wolak tried stepping it up against Ishe Smith in 2008, but was beaten by a 10 round decision. Wolak has gone back to facing slightly lesser opposition since then and done really well. However, Wolak isn’t in the same league as Foreman if his leg is able to hold up. Wolak is the kind of fighter that likes to throw a lot of punches. He doesn’t have a lot of power and his hand speed isn’t good. He tends to plod forward and is very easy to hit. However, he’s young enough to create problems for Foreman if his leg isn’t up to the mark.
