By Jim Dower: Despite what WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has been saying about his July 2nd bout with IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko being in jeopardy because of his tune-up bout against Dereck Chisora on April 30th, Wladimir is still sees himself fighting Haye on July 2nd. Wladimir wants to fight at least three times in 2011, starting with Chisora and followed by Haye on July 2nd and then possibly Tomasz Adamek near the end of the year.

Klitschko, 34, missed out on his third fight in 2010 after suffering an injury to his abdominal muscles. This left Wladimir fighting only twice in 2010, and in 2009 he fought only once in the entire year, wasting half of the year trying to get a fight with Haye, which eventually went down the tubes when Haye suffered a back injury weeks before the fight.

In an article at newsday.com, Wladimir said “I don’t want to wait too long, because my last fight was in September. I want to stay active. I’m the champion, so I’ll take Chisora in April and David Haye in July.”

Speaking of his third opponent for 2011, Adamek, Wladmir said “I know he has a good following here. It would draw a lot of people.”

Adamek has a good following in the United States among Polish immigrants and has done a nice job of padding his record against older heavyweights like Michael Grant and Andre Golota recently.

Wladimir needs to get Haye to relax about him not making their fight in July. Haye seems worried that the fight won’t happen and that it will be delayed far into the future. Haye is in a rush to fight Wladimir and his brother because he plans on retiring at the end of the year and wants to get in both fights against the Klitschkos before then.
