Image: Wladimir couldn't decide on date/site with Haye, will now fight Chisora on 4/30By William Mackay: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) couldn’t agree on a date and venue for his mega fight with WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s). According to Dan Rafael, the earliest date they could agree on was for July 2nd. Since Wladimir wasn’t interested in hanging around and doing nothing until then, he decided to take a bout against unbeaten Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) on April 30th to keep busy.

If Haye is smart, he’ll fight someone as well while he waits for the July bout against Wladimir. Haye and Wladimir will still fight in July, but it’s going to be a long wait. There’s still no guarantee that the fight against Haye will happen in July, but that;s the date they’re shooting for. Haye might do himself a good turn if he were to take on a good heavyweight contender for a change, someone young like Denis Boytsov instead of the old 38 and 39-year-olds Haye has been fighting in the past year.

Wladimir was previously supposed to have fought Chisora recently but Wladimir injured his abdominal muscle the week of the fight and it made it neccesaary for Wladimir to pull out of the bout. Now, Chisora will get a second chance at the fight, not that really matters. It’s a payday for Chisora and not much more than that. He basically stands zero chance of winning the fight because he’s too short, too slow, too weak and too limited of a fighter. This will be one of Wladimir’s weakest challengers in many years. Chisora would likely get wiped out by guys like Lamon Brewster, even after his eye surgery. However, Chisora is one of the best heavyweights in the UK and by destroying Chisora, Wladimir will be able to increase his visibility with the casual British boxing fan.
