By Allen Hmiel: Sugar Shane Mosley (46-6-1) a past boxing legend and once an undefeated and best P4P fighter in the world now seems to be floundering in the darkness of the edges of boxing’s deepest abyss. Shane has been burning bridges with Golden Boy where he was once a partner and alienating himself from two of the sports most popular names in Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins.

A messy and public divorce with millions paid out and child support payments haven’t help Mosley in these late stages of a floundering career. Talk about career pressure and distractions! Now with Top Rank as his promoter can Shane redeem himself one last time and regain some of his past faded glory? Probably not.

Approaching the ripe old age of 40, Mosley, the soon to be sacrificial lamb with the big name and past legendary boxing reputation is again going to put to the test, against possibly the world’s current best fighter in Manny Pacquiao.

How many bridges has Mosley burnt in the past five years? Including the strained relationship with his father and former trainer. Long time friendships and past loyalties have been severed and Shane finds himself reaching out and grasping for anything that will help him salvage a once stellar boxing career in these final days of an aging reflex challenged fighter, struggling to maintain his past glory and accomplishments.

Often at times Mosley appears to be drifting rudderless in the current Ocean of Boxing’s’ complexities. Floyd Mayweather exposed the aging Mosley with superior quickness in his lopsided victory and the journeyman boxer Sergio Mora barely let Shane off the hook with a lackluster draw between the two fighters. Is Shane looking for redemption in this possible last fight of his career with the great Manny Pacquiao? Or is Shane looking for a nice way out of a fading career?

A boxer needs to be completely focused on the tasks in front of him and not worrying about the other distractions in his financial, professional and personal family life. Fighting Manny Pacquiao without distractions is extremely difficult and Shane must somehow block out every past problem if he would have any chance at making the upcoming challenging fight competitive.

Old age, diminished reflexes, coupled with a divorce and severed friendships are possible opponents tougher than Manny will ever be. Shane is in for a very tough time and possibly a very long evening come fight night. Can Shane Mosley over come these outside obstacles and still beat the world’s greatest fighter?
