By Jason Kim: 42-year-old Roy Jones Jr. sees Manny Pacquiao beating 39-year-old Shane Mosley when they fight on May 7th. Jones thinks that Pacquiao is fighting well right now and believes that will be the factor in him beating the fading Mosley.

Speaking to 8countnews.com, Jones said “Pacquiao has been beating guys in bigger weight classes, and he’s hot right now. With that said, don’t completely count Mostly out, because he’s got skills too. Sometimes a guy with skills is able to make some adjustments in their older age. I’m looking for a great fight from both men, and I’m looking forward to seeing it.”

Mosley has great skills, but his stamina and ability to let his hands go appear to have really deteriorated in his last two fights. Mosley having good skills is one thing, but if he doesn’t have the stamina to fight hard for more than two rounds, what good is his skills for him? This is a case where Mosley be a bit too long in the tooth to beat the younger Pacquiao, as he’s going to need a lot of conditioning to be able to compete with the Filipino fighter. Mosley did a great job against the slow-fisted Antonio Margarito in 2009, with his punch and grab technique.

But grabbing Pacquiao all night long probably won’t work for Mosley. Pacquiao is so fast that he’ll still be able to get the better of Mosley before he gets a chance to grab Pacquiao and foil his attacks. Grabbing and holding is really Mosley’s only chance of beating Pacquiao because he doesn’t have the stamina or the speed to beat him at his age.
