Image: Prescott says Khan is too chicken to fight himBy William Mackay: #12 ranked WBA light welterweight contender Breidis Prescott (23-2, 19 KO’s) says he offered WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) a chance to redeem himself but he’s too chicken to fight. Prescott is now challenging all the light welterweight champions in hopes of getting one of them to fight him.

Prescott, 27, knocked Khan out in one round in 2008. Khan hasn’t shown any interest in trying to avenge the loss. Khan has a fight coming up in April but is looking to face weaker-punching European opponents like John Murray or Paul McCloskey instead of the hard punching Prescott.

This is what Prescott had to say today about Khan: “They’re [Khan’s management] looking in every corner of Europe for someone to beat up and pretending like all the good opponents are over-pricing themselves. I’ve offered Air Khan a chance to redeem himself over and over and I’ve made it clear I will be reasonable about money and yet he and his team just continue to make excuses. Let’s face it: He’s Khan-tucky fried chicken to fight me.”

It’s pretty much academic at this point that Khan wants no part of the hard punching Prescott, and you really can’t blame him. With a glass jaw like the one that Khan has, he’d almost surely get knocked out again no matter how many times he fights Prescott. Khan simply doesn’t have the chin needed to beat a slugger like Prescott. Unlike his fight with Marcos Maidana, Khan couldn’t count on just running and holding all night and try to scrape by with a spoiling win. Prescott would find him and knock him out with his loner arms.
