Speaking with fighthype.com, Mayweather said “The Mayweather-Pacquiao fight didn’t get made because Manny Pacquiao said he wanted two weeks of non-testing. The last two weeks leading up untilt he fight, he didn’t want to take the tests, so that’s why the fight didn’t happen…Giving blood doesn’t make you weak. Not being able to juice because you have to give blood makes you weak.”

Mayweather has a point in giving his reasons why the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight didn’t get made last year. Some boxing fans may have forgotten that Mayweather asked Pacquiao to agree to random blood testing for performance enhancing drugs two weeks before their proposed fight, but Pacquiao failed to agree to the testing, because apparently he felt the blood testing would weaken him. Giving a fighter two weeks without testing is a huge amount of time, especially when it’s leading up to the fight.

Mayweather obviously wasn’t comfortable with that. So instead of fighting Mayweather for a big money fight, Pacquiao moved on and fought one of Bob Arum’s Top Rank stable fighters Joshua Clottey in March of 2010 and easily beat him. The fight only brought in 700,000 pay-per-view buys, which aren’t bad numbers, but were far from the 1.4 million PPV buys that Mayweather brought in with his bout with Shane Mosely last year in May. Pacquiao had the chance to fight Mayweather, but he blew it by failing to agree to the random blood testing that Mayweather wanted.
