By William Mackay: Despite getting royally rocked by Marcos Maidana in his last fight in December, WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan thinks he’s answered questions about where he has a weak chin or not by standing up to Maidana’s shots for 12 rounds without going down from them.

Speaking to the Dailymail.co.uk, Khan said “I won’t lie to you; it really preyed on my mind when I read and heard all the doubters who wondered whether I had a chin after the Prescott fight. I don’t think there should be any doubts now, though. You don’t want too many fights like the one against Maidana in a career.”

How Khan could come to the conclusion that his chin isn’t bad from his fight with Maidana is really hard to understand. You can’t tell whether Khan has a good or bad chin because he ran the entire fight and when he finally did slow down enough for Maidana to tag him, Khan got badly hurt in the 10th round a single right hand from Maidana.

Khan then basically held onto Maidana for the remainder of the fight and was given chances to survive in the last three rounds by the referee, who seemed to break up the action just when Maidana was hammering Khan on the inside. Khan was badly hurt in that fight and the referee stepping in during crucial moments perhaps was the major reason Khan didn’t get knocked out.

You can’t look at that fight and come to the conclusion that Khan has an excellent chin or that he doesn’t have chin problems, because of Khan’s running and because he did end up getting badly hurt.
