Wladimir is already scheduled to fight Haye on July 2nd, and merely wants a tune-up fight but Haye doesn’t want Wladimir to take that fight.

In an article by Gareth A. Davies at the telegraph.co.uk, Haye said “The public just want to see the best vs. the best, but if only it was that simple. He [Wladimir] is scared of getting knocked out and does not want to lose. What is wrong with now? If does not make sense, especially after all the public campaign to get me in the ring. If it doesn’t happen now, it never will. Hopefully, he will read what the world is saying about him and think of cancelling the Chisora fight and do fight everyone wants to see.”

Haye is practically begging Wladimir to change his mind about the Chisora fight. It’s almost like a jilted lover. It’s not Wladimir’s fault that Haye made some silly promise to himself as a teenager that he would retire at 31. Haye needs to stop being so rigid with his all or nothing thinking and realize that it’s healthy to be flexible and not stick to some silly promise he made to himself about retiring at such as early age. If Haye wanted to make a promise, he should have made one a long time ago that he wouldn’t fight scrub heavyweights and would focus on only younger guys that can actually still fight. Now that would be an impressive promise to make to himself, but not some kind of magical drawing of the line about absolutely needing to retire the instant he turns 31. That sounds bizarre to me.
