Chisora says “My destiny is to beat up this guy [Klitschko] up”

By Jason Kim: Unbeaten Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) has been given a second chance at fighting IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) after Wladimir decided to fight a tune-up against him before a hoped for July 2nd bout against WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. The Haye bout is now off the table for Wladimir, as the Chisora news seems to have rubbed Haye the wrong way. It’s good for Chisora, though, because he assumed he was going to be passed by and now he’s getting a second chance to pull off an upset against the tall 6’6″ Klitschko.

Chisora said this in an interview at thesun.co.uk: “My opportunity was going to come, my destiny is to beat this guy [Wladimir] up. So now we start from scratch. I’m coming into it stronger and he will be a little bit stronger but I’m going to be much better. This feels like a rematch. it feels like I won the first fight and he’s coming for a rematch. I’m as confident as ever.”

Chisora may feel like he won the their non-fight in December, because he got the better of Wladimir during their press conferences and seemed to have Wladimir visibly upset at times. Wladimir seemed out of place in the give and take of the verbal exchanges with Chisora and instead of staying calm, Wladimir often became angry. Chisora refuses to respect Klitschko, not because it’s some kind of psychological trick, but rather because Chisora doesn’t respect Wladimir’s fighting ability. He sees him as a fighter that’s bad for boxing due to his style of jabbing and clinching rather than letting his hands go and trying to put on exciting fights. Chisora believes that Wladimir is flawed and will break down when they fight on April 30th.
