Image: Booth furious with Wladimir, says he should be ashamed of himself for not fighting HayeBy Dave Lahr: Adam Booth, the trainer/manager for WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s), is livid after getting the bad news that IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) has decided to fight Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) instead of Haye next. If Booth has asked me, I would have told him that Haye wouldn’t be fighting Haye next or probably ever.

The guy reeks of fear. Booth and Haye has been bending over backwards trying to accommodate Wladimir just to get the fight with him, but you can see what it’s gotten them. Wladimir won’t be fighting Haye next, even though Haye and Booth had agreed to everything that was asked of them by Wladimir.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Booth said “It’s a shame. It’s an embarrassment for boxing that the unficiation fight isn’t going to happen now because David’s bent over backwards. We’ve conceded to every single ridiculous demand they made. From the start they said 50-50. David said fine, even though potentially we’re putting in the pot three or four times more than they’re putting into the pot because of pay-per-view Sky box office. David still said ‘lets get the fight done 50-50.’ They said the fight had to be on their German broadcaster even though our German broadcaster was prepared to pay more. We said fine. They said ‘we’re not coming to England for the fight.’ David said ‘fine, I’ll go to Germany.’ They said Wladimir has to be in the red corner. Wladimir has to come in second, Wladimir’s name has to be first on the poster and all these other ridiculous, egotistical things, and David said ‘fine, have it, just get him in the ring with me.’

As you can see, Booth and Haye did their part to make the fight with Wladimir happen but the guy just didn’t want the fight. Haye might have made a mistake by picking out the big 6’6” Audley Harrison as his last opponent and looking too damn good in beating him. Haye should have struggled a little, and maybe then Wladimir would be interested in making the fight. I think Wladimir is shaking in his boots about the prospect of facing Haye and has decided to make excuses just not to have to fight him.

Booth says “The last thing was [from Wladimir], here is the date we now have, we said ye, Sky have approved the sate, and they turn round and say ‘we’re now doing Chisora.’ Wladimir should be ashamed of himself.”
