By William Mackay: 39-year-old Audley Harrison (27-5, 20 KO’s) wants a rematch with 39-year-old Martin Rogan (14-2, 7 KO’s), according to news from Frankwarren.tv. Harrison, who was taken out in three short rounds by World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye in November of last year, reportedly British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora last week, trying to get Chisora to give up his Commonwealth heavyweight strap so that Harrison and Rogan could fight over it.

Harrison already had a chance at Rogan three years ago but was beaten in 10 round decision in a shocking upset at the time. At the time of the fight, Rogan had fought only nine fights as a pro without any amateur background, yet he handled Harrison without too many problems. Rogan’s fortunes have turned for the worse since then, however, as he’s lost two of his five fights since then, getting beaten twice by Sam Sexton.

Rogan will turn 40 in May, and a fight against Harrison would be a good fight for him, especially if the Commonwealth strap was on the line to interest fans. Rogan would likely be interested in the Harrison fight, because it isn’t as if top heavyweights are beating down Rogan’s door trying to get a fight with him.

Harrison looked horrible in his loss to Haye, throwing only one punch during the entire three rounds of action and getting taken out when Haye opened up with a flurry of punches in the 3rd. After all the talking that Harrison had done before the fight about wanting to knock Haye out, it was sad how Harrison froze up completely and was unable to pull the trigger with his punches. It’s unclear why Harrison wants to resume his career, because he got a good payday for the Haye fight and he’s not likely going to make anything near the same kind of money by fighting on.
