Will Khan still be considered a great fighter if Bradley knocks him cold?

Image: Will Khan still be considered a great fighter if Bradley knocks him cold?By Scott Gilfoid: It’s amusing that Amir Khan’s boxing fans are already calling him a great fighter even though he almost got spanked in his last fight against Marcos Maidana and barely got out of the fight without getting knocked out. Thus far, I fail to see anything remotely great about Khan. I don’t even see the hint of greatness. I just see some skinny guy with fast hands that runs around the ring and every once in awhile flicks out a three to four weak punches that mostly miss before he starts running again.

Okay, so Khan is probably going to win his next fight in April because Golden Boy Promotions, his handlers, are probably going to put him in with a nice soft puncher that keeps him from getting hurt again the way Khan was against Breidis Prescott and Maidana. So if Khan wins that fight, he’s probably going o be facing Bradley later on in 2011, if Khan doesn’t back out and move up to welterweight before. I don’t see anything good coming of Khan being put in with Bradley. That’s like matching Khan with a blend of Maidana and Prescott but with boxing skills and speed.

Bradley is on another level compared to Khan, Maidana and Prescott. This guy is going to wreck Khan’s world big time. So what happens then? Will Khan’s loving supporters still see him as a great fighter if/when Bradley knocks him cold? Will these loyal loving Khan fans still think he’s the best thing since sliced bread? I don’t know how they can. With a knockout loss to Bradley, it’s going to be academic at that point that Khan doesn’t have the chin to make it. Yeah, I can see the excuses flying about his legs being weak or that he didn’t train hard enough, but that pablum isn’t going to make it past knowledge fans.

A loss to Bradley will mean only one thing: Khan doesn’t have the chin to beat the best fighters. I think he should then move back down to lightweight and focus on fighting on the domestic circuit. I think Khan would do well against the likes of John Murray, as long as he doesn’t get hit.
