Maidana, who is likely the hardest puncher in the entire light welterweight division, sees his power as stopping the show against Khan, isn’t worried that he’s not as fast or as skilled as the British fighter. Maidana realizes he can change the outcome of the fight with a single right hand.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Maidana said “It will take me one punch to change my world. I’m not worried about his boxing skills. I’m prepared for anything that he does. if I can get a knockout, it’s good but I’m ready for a 12 round fight. Khan says that he plans to fight with me. That’s good for me, because when I land, the fight will be over.”

I think I agree with Maidana. I see Khan as a delicate fighter with great skills, but not made physically for the rough and tumble fighting style of Maidana. Khan reminds me of a delicate race car about to enter an off road race in the desert. Khan just isn’t made for the kind of fight that he’ll be forced into on Saturday night by Maidana. The only person to beat Maidana was Andriy Kotelnik, even though Kotelnik appeared to lose the fight, he was able to hang with Maidana by taking his monstrous shots for 12 rounds and use his jab to win rounds.

However, Kotelnik took a savage beating in that fight and looked like he had been run over by a huge truck by the end of the fight. It would be great if Khan could take those kinds of shots too from Maidana, because I think Khan would be good for the sport if he were to win. However, I can’t see it happening. Khan is just too delicate for the kinds of shots he’s going to be getting hit with. He’s just not rugged enough to fight the way he needs to in order to beat a slugger like Maidana.
