Image: Chisora plans on roughing up Wladimir and making it dirty on SaturdayBy Dave Lahr: Unbeaten British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) plans on showing IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) what it means to fight a rough and dirty fight on the inside this Saturday when they meet for battle at the SAP-Arena, Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Chisora, one of the more intelligent fighters in the heavyweight division, has quickly observed that Wladimir only has a couple of weapons in his arsenal – a left hook and a right hand – and will be working to immediately take those limited tools away from the big 6’6″ Wladimir.

Speaking with the dailystar.co.uk, Chisora said “When you fight a champion, you go to take what he has got. I am going to physically take what he has got and hit him everywhere I can. He only has two punches. He has the one-two and left hook. Take away his jab and he has nothing left. It is going to be a dirty fight. I am going to rough him up and abuse him.”

This is a wise thing for Chisora to do, because Wladimir can’t fight on the inside and his whole game once an opponent is in close is to grab them in a clinch. From what Chisora is saying, it sounds like he’s going to pound Wladmir with shots when he gets grabbed by him and make Wladimir reluctant to hold. Once Chisora has Wladimir trying to fight on the inside without constantly holding, this is going to be over very quickly because Wladimir has no inside game and his weak chin will quickly betray him and cause him to fold like a bad suit. This is the way you beat Wladimir, as South African Corrie Sanders exposed Wladimir for his lack of inside game when he took him out in two rounds seven years ago in 2003 when Sanders got in close. The same thing with Lamon Brewster. He was able to back Wladimir up to the ropes using pressure and then badly hurt him with a left hook to the head. Once Wladimir was hurt, he was staggering and flopping around on the canvas like a big fish.

I think Chisora already has Wladimir scared and worried about what he might do once he gets in close. Chisora bit one of his opponents in the past, and while he’s not going to do that kind of thing on Saturday night, just having done in that the past is going to have Chisora’s opponent terrified this Saturday. But it’s going to be Chisora’s hard shots and heavy pressure on the inside that is going to cause Wladimir to crumble on Saturday. Wladimir can’t fight inside to save his life and his late attempts to try and learn how to throw an uppercut seem laughable, as he looks uncoordinated and weak when he throws the punch. Wladimir won’t make a dent even if he connects with one of his awkward uppercuts on the inside, but I don’t expect him to throw too many of them because Chisora will counter him every time with big shots. The constant pressure from Chisora is going to be a major problem for Wladimir, and when you factor in the pressure that he’s going to be putting on Wladimir, I see this going badly for the Ukrainian.
