Image: Can Bradley and Alexander "Bring the Nitty Gritty back to the Motor City?By Tommaso Nappo: On Jan 29th 2011, in The Pontiac Silverdome one of the most anticipated unification fights in some time is being fought in the light welterweight division. The winner will be widely considered the divisions best ( with all due respect to Amir Khan the current WBA Champion ) , and no doubt scale the p4p list as well. Timothy ” Dessert Storm ” Bradley is the current WBO Jr Welterweight Champion and ranked 9th by Ring Magazine in it’s pound for pound ranking. Bradley is undefeated in 27 fights 26 W 0L 1 NC (11 KO’s). His opponent is Devon “Alexander The Great” is the current WBC and (former IBF Jr Welterweight Champion recently stripped for selecting to fight Bradley). He is also undefeated with a record of 21 W 0 L (13 KO’s ).

The attractive thing about this fight is you have two undefeated Champions fighting to unify the titles in the Jr Welterweight division ( although if Bradley wins the WBC title will become vacant as he has refused to pay a sanctioning fee to the WBC). With the winner having a true claim of being “the man” in the division. Another factor is both fighters have the ability to hurt each other while decent punchers, they are not considered big bangers ( Alexander having a small edge in that department). Both fighters have been in trouble in fights yet have managed to survive and go on to win their respective fights. There also seems to be a genuine dislike between the two fighters ( more so the the obligatory manufactured grudge for ticket sales), which could definitely translate into fire works.

I see this being an exciting fight in which one or both fighters come off the floor. Bradley’s incredible stamina, and punch rate could force Alexander into a pace he is not comfortable at nor used too. On the other hand Alexander’s southpaw stance, reach and boxing ability could give Bradley problems from getting inside where he needs to be in order to wear Alexander down.

How will Bradley deal with the quick southpaw, will Bradley be able to impose his will and break Alexander down. Will Alexander tire as the fight wears on if forced to fight Bradley’s fight. If I was forced to pick a winner I would lean towards Bradley by a close decision.I believe his ability to finish strong , high punch rate will be enough to get him the decision in a tough close fight. (to be clear I would not bet this fight with your money ). But like everyone else I will be watching with anticipation these two undefeated Champions putting it all on the line their titles along with their undefeated records.
