By Sam Gregory: In the highly anticipated main event between Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao 52-3-2 with 38 KO’s and Antonio Margarito 38-7 with 27 KO’s from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas in a scheduled 12 round bout in the light middleweight division Pacquiao won a very one-sided decision that went the full 12 rounds.

From the opening bell Pacquiao displayed his lightening fast hand speed and remarkable foot work that remain second to none.

Margarito had a 4 ½ inch height advantage that at first seemed awkward for Pacquiao who had to throw his punches in an upward motion. It didn’t take more than maybe half a round for the Filipino to adapt to his opponents height and size and midway through the second round his punches were thrown in flurries that landed with pin point accuracy.

As venerable as Pacquiao may have looked early on by the third round he was in complete control of the fight and never turned back.

After the third round the unofficial scorecard had Pacquiao up 3 rounds to none

In the fourth round Pacquiao pushed his punch output to 3, 4 and 5 punch combinations landing every shot. Margarito was certainly a true warrior trying to walk through Pacquiao’s onslaught of punches to throw 1 or 2 punches while getting hit with 6 or 8 solid shots from the pound for pound champ.

Between the fourth and fifth rounds Margarito had blood streaming from his right eye.

Through rounds five and six Pacquiao continued to land his punches with lightening speed. Pacquiao appeared to slow his momentum slightly in the 6th round which gave Margarito a chance to push forward; Pacquiao had his back to the ropes a couple times but always managed to punch his way out.

After six Pacquiao had won every round

Through rounds 7, 8 and 9 Pacquiao continued to dictate the offensive flow of the fight. Occasionally Margarito would manage to back Pacquiao against the ropes but every time Manny fought his way out.

In the 10th round Pacquiao peppered Margarito’s face and upper body so hard and so fast the Mexican’s face was a bloody grotesque mess. Commentators called the 10th round the most brutally dominant round of Pacquiao’s career.

By the 11th round the fight could have been stopped at any point but Margarito insisted on continuing.

In the 12th round Margarito was so badly beaten it appeared Pacquiao was pulling his punches as not to inflict any future damage to his opponent.

After the 12th and final round the judge’s scorecards read: 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110 and for the winner by unanimous decision Manny Pacquiao

Pacquiao improved his record to 52-3-2 with 38 KO’s while Margarito fell to 38-7 with 27 KO’s.
